The rezoning at 960 Franklin seeks to transform a vacant and underutilized plot of land into a 1600 unit mixed income residential development with extensive community benefits, including:  

​

  • 50% workforce + affordable housing;

  • 20,000 sq. ft. of local retail space along Franklin Avenue;

  • a 7,500 courtyard partially open to the public.

​

This is the first and ONLY development in Crown Heights and its' surrounding neighborhoods that finally addresses desperately needed housing for middle income families. 

​

With the construction of approx. 800 units of targeted workforce + affordable housing, this project represents an unprecedented opportunity to retain the city's middle + working class by providing permanently affordable housing to individuals and families of all spectrums of income.

DETAILS

  • Developed in partnership with the AFL CIO Housing Investment Trust, a Union pension fund -- which, has committed in excess of $550,000,000 of their members retirement income to help finance this ground-breaking mixed-income initiative. 

​

  • Envisioned to be a new class of quality affordable housing -- all units will have similar layouts, unit sizes, appliances, finishes and amenities between the market rate, workforce and affordable units. 

​

  • Located in walking distance of mass public  transportation, Prospect Park, Medgar Evers College & Preparatory School, the Brooklyn Museum, and the central branch of the Brooklyn Public Library.

​

  • UNION BUILT -- UNION FINANCED -- UNION OPERATED.​ This project will bring 3000+ union jobs with robust, zip code-based outreach to community residents for these jobs.
